Courtney Morrow attributes her discipline, selfless service, and integrity to her experience in the US Army. She has found that these values seamlessly translate into her career as a State Farm independent contractor agent. "I enlisted in the Army at the age of 19, following in the footsteps of my grandmother and mother. While stationed at Yokota Air Base in Japan, I served as a radio broadcast journalist and produced news stories. During my time in Arlington, VA, I anchored the Army’s flagship newscast where I had the privilege of reporting on the lives of soldiers around the world." After completing her Army enlistment, Courtney received encouragement to accept a team member role for a local State Farm agent. She dedicated five years to this role before venturing out to open her own agent office in 2014. "Being a State Farm agent has given me a sense of purpose and the opportunity to be a valuable member within my community. Since establishing my agent office, I have expanded my reach by launching a second location. I look forward to the next 10 years in this position, continuing to redefine how I can make a difference.” Learn more about becoming a State Farm independent contractor agent: https://lnkd.in/giWjAvk9

Henry is celebrating 35 years of service. In his position, he provides essential support to claims operations during disasters. "I view my service to both my country and community as an honor and a privilege. After 23 years of service in the U.S. Army, I am proud to continue this commitment as a State Farm agent.” Guided by his parents’ example, State Farm independent contractor agent Irvin Pete prioritizes his life by focusing on faith, family and community. As the youngest of six kids, Irvin’s dedication to helping others reflects a legacy that has been passed down through his family. "Before I learned about renowned military leaders, I was moved by the men in my life who exemplified servant leadership. My father, a WWII veteran, and my late brother, an Army Commissioned Officer and former State Farm agent, were the most inspirational figures who ultimately influenced me to leave a legacy of service. “Being a State Farm agent allows me to embody the seven core values of the Army each day and make a positive difference in the lives of others through service. I find great joy in helping State Farm customers navigate the risks of everyday life, recover from unexpected challenges, and pursue their dreams in all seasons of life. It’s truly a privilege I cherish." Learn more about becoming a State Farm independent contractor agent: https://lnkd.in/giWjAvk9

Last week, we hosted Divine Nine Night with State Farm to celebrate the Divine 9 community. As part of the night and ongoing support for Divine 9 members, together with State Farm, we will donate $8,000 each to five local colleges to assist their student population who are members of a Divine 9 organization. These five schools, Clark Atlanta University, Georgia Institute of Technology (GT), Georgia State University (GSU), Morehouse College and Spelman College, will identify four students by the end of the calendar year to receive a $2,000 scholarship to support their educational journey.    During pregame on the concourse and at halftime on center court, strolling took place and featured our Hawks team members and State Farm employees, who are a part of the Divine 9. In addition, fans and employees from both organizations put together 2,000 LOVE Bags (hygiene kits) that were distributed to Mimi’s Pantry, the official food pantry of the Atlanta University Center, as well as the Panther’s Pantry, which is responsible for distributing food and other basic necessities to the GSU community in an effort to alleviate the stress associated with insecurity.

Cindi Scafide was first introduced to the independent contractor agent opportunity while working as an agency field specialist for State Farm.   "I never thought about becoming an agent until I had the chance to collaborate with current State Farm agents and their teams. They showed me the crucial role they play in their communities and the positive impact they make on the lives of others."   Cindi offers her insight to those hesitant in pursuing the agent opportunity. "If you're unsure if this career is right for you, go and visit as many State Farm agents in your area that you can to observe the different ways each office operates – it’s the best way to gain a real sense of this career. If you’re a self-starter and feel comfortable setting your own goals, it's the perfect opportunity for you.   "At a stage in life when many are ready to slow down, I am continually seeking ways to improve both personally and in my office.
