We learned so much yesterday at Purdue Polytechnic High Schools. Innovative approaches to education are shaping the future in Indiana - and, it seems are also providing the prototype for the new Indiana High School diploma. Looking forward to continuing the conversation with colleagues and fellows through the Mitch Daniels Leadership Foundation.

“Recognizing that far too few urban Indianapolis high school graduates are academically prepared for the rigors of post-secondary education in scientific and technological studies, Purdue is leading in the creation of Purdue Polytechnic High School.”- Mitch Daniels Today, our Mitch Daniels Leadership Foundation class had an inspiring visit to Purdue Polytechnic High Schools. Their mission to prepare urban Indianapolis students for college is truly remarkable. The unique curriculum focuses on critical thinking and problem-solving through immersive projects with industry and community partners. It was great to see even Lilly sponsoring a lab where students interact with reptiles and grow plants (featuring me holding a bearded dragon)! Connecting with future leaders like Raina Maiga was the highlight of my day. As a high school senior, Raina shared her journey to college and her future goals. She’s already making strides with her THIRD internship lined up for this summer. These students' stories are a testament that no matter your age, situation, or background, you can achieve great things. Thank you Keeanna Warren, Ph.D., Krista Primrose, PhD, Maria Quintana, and Shatoya Ward for having us and sharing the invaluable work you are doing to change students' lives. Thank you Raina Maiga for sharing your experiences and touring us around PPHS. And lastly, thank you Lauren (Petersen) James and Kelsey Cook for planning yet another intentional fellowship meeting.

Wow! What an incredible and inspiring day at Purdue Polytechnic High Schools Englewood campus. A huge thank you to Keeanna Warren, Ph.D., Shatoya Ward, Krista Primrose, PhD and all the fantastic students who shared their stories, their passion for PPHS, and gave us a tour of their school. "The Bunker" is probably the coolest #makerspace I have ever seen and definitely the coolest at any high school! #BoilerUp!

Another busy Friday with the Mitch Daniels Leadership Foundation in Indianapolis. We were at Purdue Polytechnic High Schools and got to talk more about education in Indiana. Many wonderful ideas shared from our MDLF Class VII Fellows! The best part of the day was the PPHS students joining us for our presentations. They were impressive! Our social committee did a great job after our day wrapped up with an outing to Ash & Elm Cider Co. ✅
