About us
The Philadelphia Orchestra and Ensemble Arts is boldly leading the way in building a bright, inclusive future for the performing artsâas the center of cultural life in Philadelphia, and as a model for the nation. With extraordinary artistic ambition and a commitment to reflecting the magic on stage in every interaction, we leave an indelible mark on audiences through the transformative power of the performing arts. This is where a universe of world-class art forms, genres, and ideas takes shape. With the GRAMMY-winning Philadelphia Orchestra and visionary Music and Artistic Director Yannick Nézet-Séguin as the centerpiece, we feature vibrant, multi-genre programming performed at the highest level, animating our stagesâincluding the newly renamed Marian Anderson Hallâand attracting millions to our venues each year. Ensemble Arts Philly presents bold and innovative performances, bringing talented artists together with experiences as diverse as our region. Our three venuesâthe Kimmel Center for the Performing Arts, the Academy of Music, and the Miller Theaterâare vividly brought to life with the best of Broadway, comedy, theater, jazz, dance, and family presentations. As champions for music education and community engagement, we help to eliminate barriers to access and maximize impact while uniting, inspiring, and educating people of all ages and backgrounds. We transform the lives of more than 35,000 K-12 students each year through free arts education programs in music, dance, and theater. As a mission-based non-profit organization, at the heart of our work is the belief that the arts are for everyone. While fostering an environment where all feel welcome, we serve as a canvas for creativity, a platform for expression, and a sanctuary for inspiration.

The final leg of the Orchestraâs tour of China brought everyone to Haikou, the capital of Hainan, an island province and the southernmost province in China. With this trip, The Philadelphia Orchestra becomes the first American orchestra to visit Hainan.    Each member of the tour party was welcomed with a lei. Orchestra leadership, Principal Guest Conductor Marin Alsop, Concertmaster David Kim, violist Renard Edwards, and violinist Davyd Booth were given bouquets upon arrival. Renard and Davyd have been recognized throughout the tour as participants in the historic 1973 Tour of China.   Thanks to the generous support of premiere sponsor Hainan Airlines, the Orchestra has traveled on a charter plane throughout the tour. This groundbreaking partnership enabled us to share the Philadelphia Sound with the people of China both efficiently and comfortably. We are incredibly grateful! ð¸ Todd Rosenberg

Ahead of their departure for China at the end of October, musicians of the Orchestra that reside in Philadelphia County performed their civic duty by delivering their absentee ballots for the 2024 general election today in front of City Hall. Several musicians were joined by President and CEO MatÃas Tarnopolsky and Philadelphia City Commissioners Omar Sabir, Lisa M. Deely, and Seth Bluestein to commemorate the occasion and to encourage all eligible voters to make a plan to vote in the upcoming election. The Kimmel Center for the Performing Arts will serve as a polling location for the local community on Election Day. Fittingly, the hit musical Hamilton, which tells the powerful story of the founding of our nation, will return to the Academy of Music October 29âNovember 23. The Philadelphia Orchestra and Ensemble Arts partnered with the Eagles Autism Foundation to create a sensory-friendly concert experience for everyone who attended the Childrenâs Halloween Spectacular. The following actions were taken to ensure that a welcoming and inclusive environment was created for all listeners to enjoy the performance: - The doors to Marian Anderson Hall were left open  - Lighting in the hall was reduced only 50%  - Noise-cancelling headphones, assistive-listening devices, and fidget spinners were made available to all attendees - The Founderâs Lounge in the Kimmel Center was transformed into a cool down space The Philadelphia Orchestra and Ensemble Arts is dedicated to increasing accessibility to our performances.
