There has never been a better opportunity to increase North Dakota State Universityâs success with the National Science Foundation (NSF), because the CHIPS and Science Act of 2022 authorized increasing percentages of budget to go to states like North Dakota. More than $1B of NSFâs research budget has been designated in the current fiscal year for regions like ours, but submissions of proposals to the NSF from EPSCoR jurisdictions are dropping. All North Dakota State University faculty members are invited to join NDSU VPR Colleen Fitzgerald, Ph.D. Fitzgerald and NDSU Associate Vice President for Research Development Heidi Grunwald as they discuss strategies for increasing your competitiveness on NSF proposals by targeting the NSF mechanisms that are a right fit for you. Gratitude to NDSU VPR Colleen Fitzgerald, Ph.D. for serving on the Association of Public and Land-grant Universities (APLU) Executive Committee.
I'm so appreciative of the opportunity to serve on the Executive Committee for the Association of Public and Land-grant Universities (APLU) Council on Research. It is critical for the perspectives of institutions like North Dakota State University and states like #NorthDakota to reach our colleagues and federal policymakers. North Dakota has more land-grants than any state except for Montana, and NDSU values partnerships with our fellow land-grants, the members of North Dakota Tribal College System. Many thanks to our COR leaders, the APLU team, and my fellow Senior Research Officers for all their efforts to ensure the work we do to support research is impactful! Deborah Altenburg Kevin C. Grateful to Anthony Boccanfuso, President and CEO of UIDP, for his recent visit to North Dakota State University, where he shared valuable insights on building impactful industry partnerships. Anthony highlighted this moment as a "golden age" for university-industry collaboration, emphasizing that high-performing universities excel by gaining leadership buy-in, recognizing researchersâ efforts to engage with industry, making contract processes more future-focused, and most importantly, simplifying the pathway for industry partners to collaborate with academic researchers. UIDP is a global organization with a network of industry and university members dedicated to advancing strategies that address shared challenges and promote collaborative innovation between these sectors. Looking ahead to 2025, UIDP and NDSU will co-host #Xurban2025, a national gathering that will bring together universities, businesses, and other key players to advance research, innovation, talent, and economic development across non-metropolitan areas.
