We're proud to honor Tony Whitley, Instructor in Operations Training, and the Low-Income Transit Fare Reduction Program team at the Commonwealth's 40th annual Performance Recognition Program. Lt. Governor Kim Driscoll, MassDOT Secretary Tibbits-Nutt, and General Manager Eng awarded them for their exemplary work in public service. Tony Whitley received the Eugene H. Rooney, Jr., Public Service Award, which "highlights human resources development as a planned, continuous effort to provide personal and professional growth opportunities that will enhance employee competency levels. Such activities serve to improve an individual's performance on a currently held job, and/or provide new skills, knowledge and capabilities that will allow an individual to assume a new role in the organization." “Stations are the gateway to our system and they are integral to the communities that we serve. With the hiring of these new Subway Line Managers, we’re taking significant steps in demonstrating our commitment toward transforming the rider experience,” said General Manager and CEO Eng. “In just over a year, we’ve maximized our efforts while performing track work, making our stations cleaner, safer, and more welcoming. I hope riders see and feel that improvements are happening, and our team members, under Dennis Varley’s leadership, want every rider to take pride in their public transit system right here in Massachusetts. So, I welcome Amanda Bright, Mike Brunache, Alexander Soto, and Jaleesa Turner for being on the team and taking on this challenge.” Learn more about our new Subway Line Managers: https://ow.ly/gMON50U6rW6 #MBTA #PublicTransportation #Career #Boston #Massachusetts

Over the weekend, MassDOT and the T held an emergency training drill on the Red Line at Quincy Adams. The exercise created a learning environment for transit and public safety personnel to test and evaluate their emergency response plans and procedures so they're ready for any scenario. Thank you to our volunteers, MBTA Transit Police, Quincy Fire, Quincy Police, Brewster Ambulance Service, Massachusetts Department of Public Utilities, Federal Transit Administration, and Keolis Commuter Services for participating. #MBTA #PublicTransportation #Training #FirstResponders

"As we rebuild our infrastructure, maintaining a strong partnership with industry is essential. This forum is just the beginning of that engagement for the North Station Draw One Bridge replacement. Not only will we replace the aging movable bridge, but we will replace the control tower, modernize signals, and improve our rail infrastructure giving us the necessary operational flexibility to improve service for our riders today and for future generations to come,” said MBTA CEO and General Manager Phillip Eng. We're inviting large-scale contractors, consulting firms, Minority/Women-owned Business Enterprises (M/WBE), qualified Disadvantaged Business Enterprises (DBE), Veteran-owned businesses, and small businesses to discuss the $1.2 billion North Station Draw One Bridge Replacement Project at a construction industry forum on November 18. Registration is required as space is limited and only two people per firm may attend. RSVP by November 1 at 11:59 PM. #MBTA #Construction #Drawbridge #PublicTransportation #Event
