Over the past two years, corporate valuations in the therapeutic space have experienced an unsettling trend in which limited to no step-up in valuations have been achieved between rounds. Larger rounds are being raised, only to have investors from previous rounds get "crushed" by newer and even larger follow-on funding dollars. The Radyus Research team lays out a very interesting case for how companies can accelerate R&D, reduce the underlying burn rate, and achieve clinical relevancy. A thought provoking read. HIC looks to continue the firm's collaborative relationship with Marta New and the Radyus Research team in 2024 and beyond.

Today U.S. FDA granted accelerated approval to Ojemda (tovorafenib) for the treatment of patients over the age of 6 months of age or older with relapsed or refractory pediatric low-grade glioma with a BRAF fusion or rearrangement, or BRAF V600 mutation. Congratulations to the entire Day One Biopharmaceuticals team and the hundreds of individuals around the world who made a new medicine for children with cancer. You deliver time and time again. Creating a new medicine is a joint effort between patients, families, investigators, hospitals, government employees, scientists, advocacy, lawyers, CDMOs, CROs, partnering pharmaceutical companies, investors, and countless experts across the pharmaceutical field. Seeing the label with 51% ORR on the FDA's website, seeing the letter in Samuel Blackman's hands, seeing joyful crying faces from so many exceptional people who worked on this program dating back to its discovery is humbling. It reminds me that venture capital is about betting on a dream and the people who go on to make it real.
