Thank you to The Buffalo News Editorial Board for calling on local politicians to wake up and start protecting their residents' lives. These tragedies are not isolated, they are not inevitable, and they are not without a solution. City and town leaders have a massive toolkit at their disposal that is both affordable and effective. It's up to residents to directly demand, through calls, emails, and in-person attendance, that their streets be safer, and prevent any local leader from falsely victim-blaming, or falsely suggesting there's nothing that can be done.

City and town officials throughout WNY have multiple cheap and fast tools at their disposal to protect the lives of their community's children. The time to demand they prioritize children's safety over speedy cars on residential streets is NOW.

This recognition of the power cultivated by Justin over 14 years is well-earned, and contributes to the momentum of our movement in this region. Everyone, of any age and ability and background, has a right to get where they're going safely - on foot, on a bike, in a wheelchair, on transit, and in a car.
