To bridge the communication gap between FM and IT, I would implement regular cross-departmental meetings to foster collaboration and understanding of each team's priorities. Establishing a shared platform for project updates and resource sharing can enhance transparency. Additionally, appointing liaison roles from each department can facilitate ongoing dialogue and ensure alignment on goals. Providing joint training sessions will help both teams understand each other's functions better, ultimately enhancing efficiency and streamlining operations. Ultimately, promoting a culture of collaboration and open communication will be key to achieving our objectives.

Struggling to align FM and IT communication was a common and challenging issue at the airport. Based on my experience, Iâd like to share a practical solution we implemented:
We addressed this by organizing a high-level meeting with senior IT and Facilities Management executives, ensuring broad participation and open, transparent communication. Through this, we clearly defined the roles and responsibilities of each department.
Although it took some time for staff to fully adopt the new roles and processes, the formal decisions made during the meeting provided a lasting solution. As a result, we not only resolved the issue but also led to a less stressful, faster, and more efficient Facilities Management and IT operations at the airport.

Improving communication between FM & IT is a must as they are sharing the same workplace:
- Define Roles and Responsibilities (create clear documentation outlining roles and responsibilities for FM and IT regarding shared projects to avoid overlap and confusion.
- Develop process maps that illustrate how FM and IT interact on various projects, clarifying workflows.
- Establish Common Goals (joined planning sessions, workshops between FM & IT teams)
- Assign a spoke from each team for regular coordinations purposes
- Regular Communication Channels (weekly meeting, Continuous feedback)
- Celebrate Success Together (Joint recognition, organize team building activities to promote relationship-building outside of work tasks)
