Ignorantly push people and make a whole scene so that nobody wants to be anywhere near you and stake out your own space and just shoot for the high heavens and hope you get something good.

Il arrive souvent que le temps pour une prise de vue portrait soit très court â nous photographions fréquemment des PDG avec des plannings serrés. J'essaie dâobtenir au moins 20 minutes pour la prise de vue, sachant que parfois je nâai que 10 minutes, voire seulement 2⦠D'où l'importance de la préparation ! En général, nous arrivons presque une heure avant la séance pour repérer les lieux, installer le matériel et faire des tests. Lorsque le modèle arrive, tout est prêt !

Before an event, I always try to get a full itinerary and shot-list from the client so that I can plan out where to be for key moments. As much prep as possible helps me feel confident I will nail those âanchorâ shots, which frees me up to roam throughout the event for more creative and spontaneous shots.

Get a list of attendees in advance and narrow down your targets. Arrive early and lock down your spot. Connect with other photographers at the event who may be able to provide coverage if you miss anything crucial.

In order to take all the photos that are important, you need to find out in advance about the use of the images and the desired results of the customer or client. At the end of the day, you don't want to produce too much material for short-term events that won't be used in the end. You should also get an idea of the spatial conditions in advance. An important point is to keep a close eye on the time schedule. If possible, get there early enough to get the best perspectives and secure a good spot next to the competitors. Photography itself should be a precondition for having your equipment under control. And always be polite and respectful to your competitors - they will be too.
