If you want a successful team that continually meets deadlines, invest in a quality project management system that allows for daily scheduling and detailed tracking, and then invest the time/manpower in setting it up and running it properly.

People tend to act with more intention and go extra miles when they can access and make decision on their own, so givin more context on top of other items shared in the article will go a long way. Another point is to run retrospectives with the team asking for how to do better in the future.
