I have found this approach works well, as long as you are very clear with the more senior people that they are working with the less experienced people in a mentoring capacity, and be sure they understand what that entails, in order to help the other person develop, and not just gaining a junior "lacky" to do their work for them. Make sure the mentor is also aware of how much mentoring can help them develop. It is also important that the mentee is on board and understands the approach, and feels safe and encouraged to speak up if they have any concerns.
