In my experience, performing value stream mapping and working in a disciplined way with the cross-functional teams leads to rapid success and helps the team to create a priority list of ideas based on forecasted impact (e.g. cost/quality improvement), timing and budget allocation. In this approach, there are usually "quick wins" and others that require the team to work together to achieve a larger order idea with the best interest of the organization as a whole.

As a manufacturing engineer in the automotive industry, I embrace lean principles to drive excellence, boost productivity, and reduce cost to empower humans. I eliminate redundant processes, equipment, and unnecessary steps like extra inspections or excessive movement, focusing only on what truly adds value. In my job with the engineering team, I focus on finding ways to make our work cost-effective without sacrificing quality. I start by choosing tech that's good value and using fewer parts. I also look into using innovative technology and AI to improve our processes. Before we make significant changes, I test everything to ensure it works well. I also make sure everyone knows how to use the new tech. By working closely with the sustaining team, I help make our manufacturing plants affordable and top-quality.

Process automation has an impact to quality by minimizing human error, ensuring consistency, and speeding up production times. It also leads to cost savings by reducing labor costs. Although the initial investment in automation can be high, the long-term benefits often outweigh the costs through improved efficiency and reduced operational expenses. Especialy that sometimes human error can lead to customer claims, which can be much higher than some investment.

Focus on easy wins that rid of human errors on highly procedural processes (e.g. RTV on an engine, tray to cover sealant on a HV battery). Look for opportunities that provide the highest efficiency gain to set priorities.

Continuously providing training to your personnel is really the best Quality improvement and Cost Savings a company can make. A majority of personnel want to learn and grow when given the opportunity. Most also are interested in making a Quality product. Continuous Training keeps people engaged, where they will likely point out production deviations you might not even know existed, and wasn't even on your radar to track. Train them on how to do the task, and what to look for that makes a good product, as well associated product defects. If you are an Engineer, or have engineering staff, your Continuous Training can come from keeping up to date on the latest production & Quality equipment, be it on the Web or at tradeshows.

Quality control creates safe measures that can be implemented to make sure deficient or damaged products do not end up with customers.

One component of SPC which im familiar most with is process stability. A process is considered stable if it operates in a consistent and predictable manner over time. This is determined using control charts, where the data points should fall within the control limits and show no systematic or non-random patterns.

Besides cost saving and upholding quality, smart investment lead to future competitivness by ability to produce with highest standards and technologies.

Here in the footwear industry I belonged, cost of the product varies from customer to customer. Mostly involved is illeterates or basically educated. I.e.10,12th. Nowadays.technical education is fully provided but practical is entirely different from education. So educating the cost level is not most important. And besides quality can explain to the people involved, about their responsibility and requirements. Suppose we earn more profit than expected will give little motivation as one time lunch, small gifts, utilities,... So automatically they got satisfied and give their full co operation.. That's my experience. Otherwise people should follow Do, check And Pass only. i.e do your work, check thoroughly and pass to the next.
