I agree with the statements, however I would add a little more meat like what exactly is the user looking, what tools should be used and what KPI should be established

You can use various channels and techniques to gather user feedback, such as surveys, interviews, focus groups, reviews, ratings, analytics, and social media. You should analyze the user feedback to understand their needs, expectations, satisfaction, and loyalty. You should also prioritize and implement the user feedback that aligns with your software goals and adds value to the software.
In my experience, collecting feedback in a timely and consistent manner is important to put things in perspective. For example, if you conduct beta test for a product, the number of users who participate and the conditions under which each individual participates can dictate the usefulness of the feedback.
Based on the performance metrics and user feedback, you may need to implement changes and updates to the software to fix bugs, errors, or defects, improve features or functionalities, add new capabilities or enhancements, or adapt to changing environments or regulations. You should follow a change management process that defines the roles, responsibilities, procedures, and tools for requesting, approving, documenting, testing, and deploying changes. You should also communicate the changes and updates to the stakeholders and users and provide training or support if needed.
After implementing changes and updates to the software, you should evaluate the impact of those changes and updates on the software performance and user feedback. You should use the same performance metrics and user feedback methods that you used before the changes and updates and compare the results. You should assess whether the changes and updates achieved the desired outcomes, improved the software quality, and increased the user satisfaction. You should also identify any unintended consequences, risks, or trade-offs that resulted from the changes and updates and mitigate them accordingly.
The maintenance phase of the SDLC is not a one-time activity, but a continuous cycle of monitoring, evaluating, implementing, and evaluating. You should repeat this cycle regularly and consistently to keep your software up to date, relevant, and competitive. You should also review and revise your performance metrics and user feedback methods as your software evolves and matures. By following this cycle, you can ensure that your software meets the current and future needs of your users and stakeholders.
In my experience, programmers (at every level, including management and architects and leads) should first work the help desk. No better way to learn about customer expectations. No better motivation to fix bugs and keep them out of the code base. Also, programmers should work the “emergency line†for some time and periodically after they assume the programmer / architect role. Then they will understand the ultimate test: be awakened from a dead sleep at 3am and take 20 minutes to diagnose a problem.
