What came to my mind is whether my teaching philosophy, a kind of an artifact projecting my beliefs, interests etc. should be changed, modified to please the traditions of the next school. I was under the impression that teaching philosophy is shaped, formulated throughout the years of practice, training and self reflection and and is in a way a representation of your teaching identity. Should it be easily amended to meet the audience even if the audience is a group of your potential colleagues?

When explaining my teaching philosophy to a potential employer, I would emphasise my student-centred approach. I believe in creating a supportive and inclusive learning environment where students are actively engaged in their own learning process. I prioritise individualised instruction, tailoring my teaching methods to meet the diverse needs and learning styles of students. I also try to foster critical thinking, problem-solving skills, and promote a growth mindset. Collaboration and open communication are key components of my teaching philosophy, as I believe in building strong relationships with students, parents, and colleagues. Ultimately, my goal is to inspire a love for learning and empower students to reach their full potential.

I have learned that as a nurse, life long learning and the ability to change are key to becoming successful and staying prudent in nursing is a must. My philosophy is that we are learning together many times and must always keep in mind that wherever we teach we are teaching to develop novices into their new role of practice. We should always remember that practicing is just that, practice. We have knowledge and skills that are basic but evidence backs, then evidence in some of the more advanced practices changes with time and we should also be willing to change with it.

First and foremost, embed yourself in the organisation, understand their staff, culture and vision. Expertise is important, but it starts from the context first. to be an effective teacher, be a learner first before you educate or train.

Talk about what has been successful for you in the classroom and relate it to the curriculum and learners your employer manages. Show your understanding of engaging learners, teaching relevant subject areas and importantly why your philosophy works and has worked. That would be my approach using examples. The best philosophy is your results, your practices and your keeness to keep learning.

Understand the gaps and mend them through your training. Be relevant but also impactful. The buy-in is vital and can only be achieved through listening effectively and attentively.

This goes not only about teaching philosophy, it applies for anyone replying an interview for getting a job. One should be able to express themselves and their manner of conducting their job, in a concise way. Express your view and methodology in a good but simple and fast way.

I will use the case study method to highlight my teaching and skill achievement. I will sell how my students after enrolment have achieved better scores in the public exams, namely IELTS/TOEFL. I will also highlight which universities offer them and their final acceptance. I can also demonstrate my near-native English ability in writing and teaching. Newly recruited teachers need to go through mock teaching varies from 30 minutes to 1.5 hours. I will volunteer to demonstrate my subject in English for half an hour to show my enthusiasm for teaching. I like to speak English whenever possible to articulate my ideas in any subject in any circumstances. A good humanities and social science teacher, fluency in language is always an advantage.

A teacher should be ready to take feedback as it helps you grow professionally.it helps you know where you need adjustment. It's fun to get feedback and the necessary support will make you better.
