Keep cameras on (as mundane as it sounds) human beings respond better to visual interactions and this helps build trust. 3. Establish some ground rules on team management eg. cadence of 121 meetings, deliverables expected and by when. 4. Get a good grasp of what may be hindering the team's morale and address it. Building trust takes time and focus on simple, consistent actions. Regular video calls are keyâitâs easier to connect when we can see and hear each other, even from a distance. Weekly check-ins help us share updates, celebrate wins, and tackle blockers. Meetings are also a key time to reinforce psychological safetyâopenly discuss challenges and mistakes without fear of judgment. We aim for high standards but encourage honesty when things donât go as planned. To keep things fun, I create casual Slack channels for non-work chats, so we can bond beyond work. For me, trust is built by following through on my wordâactions always speak louder than words. Over time, these habits lay a strong foundation for the team.
