As a supervisor, I manage tasks with 3 simple steps: 1. Prioritize using a 2x2 quadrant: : Focus on tasks that are both important and urgent. 2. Assign with purpose: Lead when assigning tasks, donât just delegate. 3. Challenge the urgency: If something can wait, donât rush it. Remember: Not every problem is yours to solve!

In order to properly prioritise and assign weight and urgency to your activities as a Supervisor, the value of creating a workable system to address the activities in order cannot be overstated. You need to be able to work on the necessary/critical ones first rather than the urgent-seeming activities: - Write down all your activities in any order. - Chose a method to categorise the listed activities. - Prioritise the items on your activity list using a sorting method you find most useful. This helps you select the crucial activities in the order of criticality to your role. - Always be ready to re-jig the list as necessary.
