Offer them your perspective, and have open conversations about how certain challenging tasks can help them grow and develop as an individual. Provide support and scaffolding so that they can be challenged in a positive and constructive way. Delegating challenging tasks can help others grow professionally if they are given the opportunity to learn and grow from that experience. It is important to provide enough context and responsibility to own the effort so that they can fully learn and develop from the experience.

When delegating challenging tasks, I see it as an opportunity for my team to grow. I start by being clear about my trust in their abilities, setting the stage for them to step into discomfort with confidence. I provide the right balance of guidance and autonomyâenough support so they donât feel abandoned, but enough freedom so they can take ownership. I also encourage them to embrace mistakes as part of the learning process.
Growth happens when weâre willing to stretch ourselves, and as a leader, my role is to create a safe space where my team feels empowered to do just that.
