How ever works for you, for me it is to take "brain breaks" and add to a draft email to my supervisor, "What I do today?" I had a fabulous intern whom I told I am horrible at my weekly reports, and she took it upon herself to keep notes of every conversation, whether in person or telephone, to assist me. She also drew up a flow chart of the accessions process, the daily tasks, library goals, purchase wish list, on the white board I purchased to keep track of things outside of mu head and the paperwork catastrophe on my desk. A lot of library professionals pride themselves on their high standards and delivering a top rate service in all areas. When there are a lot of competing pressures this mentality isn't always helpful. Are there some things that can be delegated? Are there some things where a deadline could be extended if you asked? Are there some things that actually could be dropped entirely for the moment? Also, are there things where you could do a less perfect job - good enough vs gold standard? It feels uncomfortable, but will still get the work done. Make sure to still find time for some breaks - from the screen and for your mind. Take a short walk and recharge. You'll be more focussed and energised when you get back to your desk.

To efficiently navigate a heavy workload and meet deadlines, prioritize tasks, create a schedule, and use time-management techniques like the Pomodoro Technique. Minimize distractions, leverage library resources, and seek support when needed. Take regular breaks to recharge and regularly review progress to adjust your approach as needed. These strategies, can help you manage your workload effectively and succeed in your library tasks.

Delegate when possible. Prioritise, have to do lists, one for time sensitive items and one for longer term projects and tasks. Keeping in mind to allow for contingencies. If you have committee assignements see if you can team up/brain storm with another committee member to speed up your progress. Hopefully you can spare some time at the end of the day to put a rough list of what needs to be tackled the next day. Don't forget to take short mental breaks to regroup.

Time management is essential for any library professional. I use time blocks on my Outlook calendar to ensure I’m on task, uninterrupted, and meet or beat important deadlines. Saying “No” is also important to improving your time management skills and the completion of tasks and projects. Hang in there!

If possible, request task time for specific named tasks. You can label the task time slots as well. That way, you can obtain the materials and resources you need ahead of time- and also eat and take care of other necessary things- so that you can have the time to do the work with few if any distractions or interruptions.

Use a planner or digital tool to block out time for each task. Set realistic deadlines and stick to them, keeping track of progress.

Time blocks are crucial for enhancing productivity and managing your schedule effectively. By planning your time blocks effectively, you can balance work tasks with personal activities. This approach helps you manage your workload without encroaching on your personal time, contributing to a healthier work-life balance. And again, you finish the day feeling that you have accomplished tasks and usually do not feel burnt out.

Algo que considero útil é dividir os tipos de tarefas ao longo do dia. Pela manhã, prefiro enfrentar as atividades que exigem mais esforço intelectual e mental. À tarde, quando já estou mais cansada, opto por tarefas rotineiras ou mais automáticas, que me permitem ouvir música, por exemplo, ajudando-me a ser mais eficiente.

Keep your workspace, both digital and physical, organized to reduce time wasted looking for materials and If working in a team, distribute tasks efficiently or ask for help when needed.

I use Google Calendar and the the To-Do List - Tick Tick - to organize my work. I also use both apps for personal use when I am not working.

Hoje em dia utilizo o OneNote para controlar minhas demandas, sei que existem outras ferramentas, e tenho interesse em busca-las pois sempre busco opções que otimizem meu tempo.

The organization where I work uses Microsoft. I blend using digital tools such as Microsoft Calendar with time blocking to ensure that I complete all of my assignments in a timely fashion.

Penso que é essencial trabalhar em equipe sempre que possível. Outra questão chave é compartilhar responsabilidades e dividir tarefas pode aliviar a carga e trazer novas perspectivas para resolver problemas. Minha sugestão.. não hesite em pedir ajuda ou oferecer suporte aos colegas quando necessário.

Na empresa onde trabalho, utilizamos o Teams para nos comunicarmos constantemente sobre demandas, ideias e solicitações de ajuda. Essa boa integração, na minha opinião, torna o trabalho mais prazeroso e produtivo.

Las pausas activas son muy importantes, efectivamente, no sólo permiten ejercitarse físicamente, sino tsmbien, despejan la mente para continuar con las tareas: aspecto fundamental para una buena prestación del servicio a lis usuarios.

We underestimate the importance and power of self-care. In society, we are taught to work hard and work harder. We are not machines. We can and do get burnt out. Self-care breaks are vital for sustaining both well-being and productivity. Taking regular breaks for self-care helps recharge your mind and body, reducing stress and preventing burnout. Whether it's a short walk, a quick meditation session, or simply stepping away from your workspace, these moments allow you to refresh and refocus.

Gosto de parar por cerca de 5 minutos ou de manhã ou à tarde e pego um sol, ando devagar e tento descansar a mente, sinto que volto recarregada.

Pela minha experiência, aprendi não subestimar o poder de uma pausa. É vital tirarmos momentos para relaxar e recarregar as energias, pois isso atua na melhora da saúde mental e física, ainda aumenta a produtividade e criatividade a longo prazo.

La reflexión diaria nos da una guía de que vamos por el camino adecuado, que modificaciones se deben hacer y así no perder la hilacion de nuestro trabajo en el día a día. By reflecting on your daily tasks and accomplishments, you can prioritize more effectively and focus on what’s most important. This can lead to more efficient use of your time and a clearer sense of purpose. As for self-awareness, reflection helps you gain insight into your actions, thoughts, and emotions. This heightened self-awareness can lead to better decision-making and a deeper understanding of your motivations and behaviors. Which can help you fine-tune your approach to the various tasks/goals. In my opinion, these two elements are key when reflecting on your day.
