When your team is going through a hard time, a good story can make a big difference. Share a personal story that is relatable about someone you as a leader may have worked with. Alternatively an experience you went through yourself. Someone who faced challenges but stayed strong and found a way to succeed. Highlight the lessons, like teamwork, persistence, or believing in yourself. Keep the story simple and inspiring, so everyone can see how their efforts matter. Stories connect us emotionally and remind us that tough times donât last forever, but strong teams do. Make sure you stress on the importance of sticking it out as a team.

As Human Flourishing Mentor, hereâs how I use it to uplift and motivate my team during tough times, by: - Revisiting past triumphs, highlighting the team's resilience and problem-solving abilities. This builds confidence in their capabilities. - Crafting compelling narratives that illustrate the positive impact of their work on others. This connects their efforts to a larger purpose. - Creating a safe space for team members to share their own stories of resilience and growth. This fosters connection and a sense of shared experience. When used authentically and thoughtfully, storytelling can create energy for people to flourish!ð¤

In my opinion, tell a story about a time when challenges were tough but teamwork and persistence led to success. Highlight the lessons learned and how they apply to your current situation, and end it by showing how everyoneâs effort will lead to better results.

When your team is struggling, storytelling can reignite their spirit. Share a moment from your own journeyâperhaps when you faced failure but realized FAIL is just the First Attempt In Learning. Relate it to their challenges, showing that setbacks are stepping stones to growth. Paint a picture of what lies ahead: the lessons theyâll carry, the strength theyâre building. Remind them that every tough chapter is temporary and not an END as it elongates to Effort Never Dies. A well-told story isnât just motivationalâitâs a mirror, reflecting their resilience and potential.

During tough times, the team looks up to us as leaders. Here is what I do: 1. Appreciate their hard work, despite the tough times. Take them out for lunch or have a mini pizza party, if possible. 2. Tell them I understand how they are feeling because I have been there, and share a relatable experience from my (20 years of experience) and how it always works out. 3. Boost their confidence. Remind them how amazing they are and how proud I am of them for every time they have come out of tough times even stronger. 4. Re-assure them and tell them that, as difficult as it seems, 'we' will get through it together, as a team.
