In my opinion I would rank the best techniques like that. 1. Role-playing & simulations (most time consuming but best possible INDIVIDUAL outcome) 2. Coaching & Mentoring (Also time consuming but extremely individual -> Mentor can integrate role playing etc.) 3. Webinars & workshops (most of the time one-size-fits-it all) but also very good 4. Online courses: You can go your own speed and check out many different ideas 5. Books & podcasts. Also own speed but are more for getting more context as you are not training the new skills.

I've loved interviewing people like Kevin Dorsey, Scott Leese, Cynthia Barnes and many others, who all share some great wisdom for folks in sales.

Coaching and mentoring is the best way BY FAR to improve your sales skills. Continued practice with feedback, is a science -approved method to become better really fast in any skill. A coach will save you a ton of time. Also, it makes the journey a bit more social and fun.

As someone who's been a coach and mentor for over 10 years in the luxury & high ticket sales arena, I can say that coaching and mentoring can be extremely valuable and help greatly however you have to find a coach that's the right fit for you. Just like you don't get on with everybody you won't get on with every coach, even if the coach has the knowledge that you need it doesn't mean they'll be a fit for you. You'll find it difficult to really open yourself up to being supported fully or being fully honest with a coach that you don't feel comfortable with. You also need to be specific on what you're looking for help with, if you're not sure then it's going to be difficult for someone to help you.

While coaching is powerful, wouldn't self-reflection be the first step? Identifying our own strengths & weaknesses before seeking guidance could maximize coaching impact. But for budget-conscious folks, mastermind groups, whatsapp and slack communities can offer similar benefits.

In the spirit of collaboration, sit down with your colleagues and write down all of the objections and obstacles you are hearing in the field. Capture it all. Whether they are smoke screens or legit concerns - see the whole picture. From there, develop your broadway script around your product’s value propositions that are designed to aim right at those objections. Work on delivery. Develop a style. Two things to remember: (1) you have to believe in the value proposition long before you can influence anyone else to and (2) be completely vulnerable in a role play environment; it may feel uncomfortable fumbling in front of colleagues but get over yourself - you’re getting better!

The focus should be on identifying and practicing areas to improve, and to highlight strengths and skill. It should be a safe place to practice and for failure, key to learning. The most important rule with roleplay is to make it fun and engaging. Team members may be understandably apprehensive about 'being put on the spot', and framing this in a positive and supportive light, including explaining how it will benefit them, will ensure they are effective.

Role-playing simulations combine realism, interactivity, and immediate feedback, making them the most powerful and effective method for enhancing sales skills and performance in my opinion.

Practicing with colleagues is great, but have you found any creative ways to involve unfamiliar people for different customer perspectives? For me, role-playing helped master product demos, but negotiation still feels tricky.

If you are serious and want to take your standard to the next level then invest in yourself with training courses and workshops. But make sure that you know the agenda beforehand as sometimes all you hear is what you know. you want to know what you do not know

Workshops sind top um bestimmte einzelne Themen anzugehen. Mit spezifischen Workshops kann direkt auf die Marktlage eingegangen werden: "Wie können wir den Wettbewerber X übertrumpfen?", "Wie soll ich argumentieren, wenn...?" usw. Somit kann das Team kurzfristig sofort im Feld profitieren von Ansichten und Vorgehensweisen die in einem kurzen Workshop vollumfänglich erledigt wurden.

Feedback is a gift. Too many sellers wait for it to be given and then feel attacked in the moment. At the same time, too many leaders wait until it's "an issue" (close to being put on a performance plan) before giving feedback. It's a shared responsibility but in the moment feedback is powerful. Ask for it after every single meeting or interaction. Don't say "Any feedback for me?". That will often lead to "No you did great". Ask "What's one thing you think I could've done differently?". Not only is that open-ended and requires a response but will also be easier to digest should they have more than one thing. Sellers often only look to managers too. Ask this of everybody. Some of the best feedback I've received has been from my BDR.

You can read all the books, watch all the videos, and listen to every coach, but there's no better way to discover what's best for you than the real experience

Self assessments are incredibly powerful. It is important to note, however, that we have 'blind spots' in our view of ourselves and situations, so self assessments should be used alongside 3rd party feedback. An effective self assessment should align your values, interests and goals with desired retention of and improvement of relevant skills, knowledge and behaviours. This is identifying what we need to do, to get where we want to go. The final step here is to create clear and realistic actions to develop the identified areas. Top tip for a self assessment: Write some key questions for yourself, Then, DON'T answer the questions immediately. Come back in a couple of days when your subconscious mind has had time to think.

I used to ask for feedback from customers. I also tracked my own sales numbers and territory plan on a daily basis to see where I should spend my resources.

Feedback can be intimidating but it enables us to self-reflect and gives us the opportunity to improve our performance. Evaluating your sales approach from different perspectives is very important.

There is no magic formula to improving sales techniques. But here are some suggestions: 1) Invest in working hard. Be prepared to try, practice and increase FaceTime with customers. 2) Details matter. Put in time to know your processes, tools, products, including the small prints. Get your basics right. 3)Once you are confident in the "Science" of things, don't neglect the "Art" and delivery. Logic is important in conveying the sales process and risks and understanding needs of customers, but it is the Emotions that close the case. 4) Be like a sponge. Open yourself to sharing from peers, top reps, industry professionals etc. 5) Nothing beats on the job training by experiencing it yourself. Books and Tik Tok vids can only do so much.

Networking Events- Attend industry events to learn from real world experiences and connect with professionals. Customer Interactions- Actively engage with customers to understand their needs and challenges, gaining practical insights. Competitor Analysis- Study successful competitors to identify effective strategies and incorporate them into your approach.

The key to developing your sales skills is understanding HOW you learn, what ways can you take in information most effectively. Then actually implementing and testing what you learn in the wild. We don't truly learn until we apply what we have heard, read, been coached on. There are tens of thousands of resources out there today, the key is to finding a specific area to focus and being able to apply it. See if it works for you. You don't need to have tons of takeaways, a simple shift of 1 principle, applied diligently can make a massive shift over time.
