Today, there is a problem with giving the audience you wish to turn into loyal 'coming back' fans, too much in the lede. We naturally put a lot of value on keywording the starts so online searchers find our newest work but the truth is Google, Bing... searchers can scroll down reading the search results page and not click to read any links and get a good idea of the breaking news story. Never forget that your story is in competition to get searchers to click. Unless you are the only one writing about the topic, you must lure your reader.

The best thing to do, in my opinion, is tell the reader exactly what they are going to get out of reading the article. What is the most important/best but of information? If you’re solving a specific problem, that’s even better to have in the first sentence.
