1 Supervised learning

Supervised learning is when you have a set of data that has labels or answers. For example, you may have a collection of sentences and their translations, or a list of words and their meanings. You can use this data to train a machine learning model, which is a program that learns from the data and can make predictions for new data. For example, a machine learning model can learn to translate sentences from one language to another, or to identify the parts of speech in a sentence.

3 The difference

5 The challenges

Supervised and unsupervised learning are not easy tasks, and they face many challenges in linguistics. These challenges include data quality, such as noise, incompleteness, inconsistency, or bias; data quantity, like being too small, too large, or too diverse; data representation, which can have different formats, levels, or dimensions; and finally data interpretation, which may have multiple meanings, ambiguities, or uncertainties.
