Central to all golf course management should be Integrated Turf Management (IPM in other industries). This forms the basis of best practice when managing any turf surface. Minimising inputs and managing turf in as harmonious a way as possible with nature, whilst still producing quality playing surfaces, is a core philosophy of ITM. Key to being able to minimise all inputs are: - A focus on long-term plant health - Create the conditions for healthy turf - Minimise the opportunities for pathogen build up - Avoid creating conditions that favour weed ingress - Prevention of a problem is better than curing one! - Know what problems may occur on your turf - If a chemical control is needed, make sure you get the maximum efficacy.
