Oh I've felt this a ton. "Lean into your strengths" they say. But that's hard to do if you don't know your strengths. That's why I recommend utilizing a platform like LinkedIn to actualize and take action on what those possibilities look like. Let's say you're torn between being 1. computer programmer or 2. marketing. Try both out, share information about both on linkedIn. The reason is because you are forcing yourself into positions prior to getting a job in either, of working directly with the information which may be your career choice. Play around. You can't mess up. Every choice is feedback.

When torn between conflicting career advice, I take a step back to assess what aligns most with my values, goals, and long-term vision. I weigh the pros and cons of each perspective, trust my intuition, and seek guidance from trusted mentors to make an informed, authentic decision.

Navigating conflicting career advice can be overwhelming. I once faced this dilemma when mentors offered opposing views on whether to specialize or broaden my skill set. To find clarity, I took a step back and reflected on my long-term goals. I made a list of my strengths and interests, then reached out to peers in both camps for their insights. This helped me see the value in both perspectives. Ultimately, I decided to pursue a hybrid approachâgaining depth in my primary area while also exploring adjacent skills. This experience taught me that itâs okay to blend advice and carve your own path. Trusting your instincts while gathering diverse opinions can lead to a fulfilling career journey.
