I recall a time when I stepped into a leadership role to guide a team in Austria following my company’s merger. Being on the West Coast of the US, I faced several challenges, from managing time zone differences to adapting to a virtual work environment and a sudden change in leadership. Building trust was crucial to ensure my team thrived, so I maintained regular and transparent communication with them on an established schedule. I shared updates on projects and organizational changes during these calls and encouraged my team to express their thoughts and concerns. This approach in addition to my regular 1:1s helped me build trust and navigate other challenges with the support of my team.

To create trust in your team, and this is even more important if you are not able to very often look into their eyes ( virtual teams ), my first advice is to lead by example. E.g. if you would like them to make an excel training, be first to make it and share your new certificate on the matter ( LinkedIn is great for this). Another element is to make recurrent virtual meetings in two ways: one with the whole team, and the other which each and every member individually. And this is crucial for both types of meeting: LISTEN. You might have a meeting target, but first you need all of them to be “on the same page”. So first listen, and then try to treat them as you think they need to be treated ( not how YOU need to be treated ).

É muito comum o pensamento sobre metas e como eles devem ser obtidas, porém por muito tempo vi que há muitas interferências para que se possa alcançá-las, e não estou falando apenas dos pontos já sabidos por muitos, tais como: "tenha foco", "controle seu tempo" ou "definir pequenos milestones para a meta final", mas também das condições de trabalho que é proposta para que a meta seja bem estabelecida e alcançável. Para este caso já fiz alguns experimentos, com descrições pontuais, de receba o recursos e execute a atividade com sucesso. Sabendo do que é preciso, com as possibilidades a seu favor, uma meta traçada, é factível de se tornar uma atividade finalizada com qualidade (prazos e funcionalidade). A inteligência precisa ser humana!

O trabalho virtual oferece uma grande flexibilidade, entretanto para aproveitar bem essa flexibilidade é importante estabelecer metas para a equipe, demonstrando também os resultados e o quanto é importante o alcanço dos objetivos da empresa.

Goals are ok, a clear vision in combination with strong values - everyone can experience are better for VUCA/BANI environments. Goals are often on micromanagement level - reducing the opportunity for growth and learning. Classical goal setting - with milestones ... is great for stable topics in non-changing-environments. In my world, I do not want to limit our progress by setting goals. We do spend a decent amount of time with clarifying, where we want to go and what are fundamentals (often behaviors, values) - this allows us to - and this almost always happens - to be much more responsive and overachieve "goals" most would have never anticipated at beginning. Learning on the way - will enable better results - you can just not know upfront.

I agree with this, encourage others to share, call out why you need their participation. At times they may be feeling unqualified, or never heard. Make it clear why they are part of the team.

Collaboration is essential. Utilizing collaboration tools is essential to keep all marching to same goals. Develop a stakeholders document illustrating roles and communication prefaces. Given team sizes, collaborative team sites and sharepoint give a central place for sharing, status, issues, and decisions. Virtual collaboration is essential for success.

Para equipes com alto desempenho, por muitas vezes, há sempre um "hero", e isto pode tornar a equipe não sustentável por muito tempo, pois os conceitos de melhoria contínua, sempre prezam por um ambiente homogêneo em colaboração, porém com especificidades pontuais para que o fluxo tenha uma sequência findada em entregas promissoras. Há muito o que ser desenvolvido nas lideranças, até mesmo nas informações que são tratadas com as lideranças, pois cada pessoa difere em conceitos, atitudes e opiniões, porém não estamos considerando esta natureza, e colocando tudo numa mesma "base", digo num mesmo entendimento. É preciso extrair o melhor de cada um, e não será com as "vendas de apresentação" atuais, que conseguiremos engajar pessoas.

Faça do reconhecimento um hábito dentro da sua rotina de trabalho, reconhecer os esforços é fundamental para manter a motivação da equipe, não importa o tamanho da conquista ou impacto do resultado, o importante é comemorar e demonstrar o resultado.

A importância de ter sempre em mente a ideia de comemorar as conquistas, passa diretamente também pelos seus colaboradores, ninguém constrói nada sozinho, isto é um fato, mas para a realidade há muitos que tentam executar métodos unitários de solução, o que pode ceifar toda a cadeia de equipe criada numa organização. Há vistas que quando há uma conquista unitária, não há um reconhecimento mútuo, pode ser válido, mas não sustentável. É preciso diferenciar os reconhecimento profissionais das equipes, e é fundamental para a organização que as duas coisas aconteçam, de forma separada. Já tive uma mostra experimental, com reconhecimento de competências pessoais e em grupos. Resultado é que os reconhecimentos em grupo potencializam o individual.

Whats recognition? a Like, a shoulder clap, a bonus... be aware that a child does not need any recognition for learning to walk, talk or anything else. They do it, because it makes sense, others are doing it too and they have a strong desire for belonging. That does not say: no recognition needed - just not the classical one. Handing over a task or project early on, before they proofed your trust - is recognition Giving freedom = giving trust is recognition Sharing details, insights without demands - can be recognition Letting others speak or present in my name is recognition. It is the way we role model, change ourselves, reflect together and show appreciation (not by top down "good job" but by saying "thank you")

Recognition is a powerful motivator, especially for team members. I use recognition as a way to say thanks and acknowledge individual achievements and the collective success of the team. Personalized messages and or recognition to senior managers go along way in achieving ultimate success. As group recognize each other achievement, the group becomes energized and feels commitment to project.

Entregar o trabalho executado como meio de ajuda é fazer com que tenhas que executar por várias vezes a mesma atividade para o seu colaborador, uma vez que ele não aprenderá, mas sim estará acomodado. O suporte, deve ser feito considerando os recursos, tais como ferramentas, conhecimento, procedimentos e instruções, após esta etapa, vem a questão de monitoramento e posteriormente a cobrança clássica, ou seja, há um fluxo, Siga-o!

Establishing Social Learning, asking for help, committing mistakes lowers the bar for others to ask for support. Often we push support to show off, I try to establish a reputation (working transparently, sharing my learning, connecting relevant experts visibly...) "being supportive" on 3 levels: 1. my team & function 2. my organization (enterprise social network) 3. my networks outside (sharing is caring) I talk about what is relevant for me, without expecting anything. So sharing my learning is more a matter of written self-reflection... and other can benefit Of course I always help, if I am asked... no one leaves with a "no sorry" - there is always something you can create value for (maybe it is just spreading the question in my network)

Crescimento é uma palavra bastante ampla em conceito e significado, porém no meio profissional, algumas nuances devem ser exaltadas para uma melhora significativa em sua organização. Há quem perceba o crescimento pessoal com certa facilidade, com promoções ou elevação de salário, mas o que estaria ocorrendo na equipe como um todo? há divergências que comprometem resultados? É pertinente citar vários tópicos em melhoria contínua numa organização, mas vou apenas citar o poder do "ganha-ganha", e neste tópico a equipe deve ser a promotora do crescimento individual, em outras palavras , avalie todos da equipe, invista nas fortalezas do SWOT individual e trabalhe nos GAP´s, ampliando os resultados individuais, com isso a equipe será Sustentável!
