Provide a revised schedule with realistic deadlines and outline the steps being taken to resolve the issue. Reassure stakeholders by emphasizing your commitment to delivering quality results and maintaining open communication throughout the process.

Many stakeholders provide feedback that they feel unheard or ignored. As others have stated, in addition to being honest and transparent with anticipated next steps, ask the stakeholders, especially those living and working in or near the area being remediated, what they would like to happen during the delays or ideas. Then try to implement these ideas. If the ideas cannot be implemented, explain the barriers to implementation such as funding, staffing, politics and all for additional ideas to continue active community involvement. Often the best ideas come from the neighboring stakeholders. An added benefit is the project transforms from us versus then to we.

I dont have the same experience as most of contributors : I only managed relatively small research teams in the frame of public or non for profit organizations . However ,in case of delays in a project I strongly support the contributions pointing out the need of rapid intervention ,of the sincerity in the analysis and communication , and the need of convincing the team about the solutions proposed . I believe that this is valid in any human project involving a group of actors!
