Consensus models or lack there of is one of most overlooked tools should be considered part of team building, job satisfaction, and positive work culture. By embedding and training a consensus model, expectations on how to arrive at a solution are transparent. It potentially saves time, energy and emotional currency. It demonstrates the organization's commitment to a curated collaborative democracy. By embedding this into procedures it acknowledges everyone's voices while maintaining the expectation to get to a solution. Of course it does not fit every situation. Those exceptions should be identified and public. Whenever possible the reasoning should also be given. This will hold the integrity to the process and executives must participate.
