1 Node organization

When working with node compositing, one of the first challenges you may face is organizing your node tree. A node tree is a network of nodes defining the compositing workflow, and if it's not organized properly, it can make it difficult to understand, modify, and debug your compositing setup. To help you stay organized, here are some best practices for node organization: use frames and labels to group and name related nodes; use reroute nodes to avoid crossing or overlapping connections; use node groups to encapsulate and reuse common node functions; and use color ramps and viewer nodes to preview and adjust the output of individual nodes.

2 Performance optimization

When working with node compositing, you may have to optimize the performance of your node tree. A complex or inefficient node tree can slow down the rendering process and consume more memory and CPU resources. To improve its performance, adjust the output size and samples of your render layers in the render properties panel, reduce the complexity of your scene geometry and materials using the simplify option in the scene properties panel, enable or disable the automatic update of the compositing output with the auto render option in the compositor properties panel, and use the use nodes and backdrop options in the compositor header to enable or disable node compositing and background display of the compositing output.

3 Realism enhancement

When working with node compositing, you may want to enhance the realism of your 3D renders. Applying various effects and filters can add more depth, detail, and atmosphere to your renders. However, be careful not to overdo or misuse these effects, as they can also introduce unwanted artifacts or distortions. To achieve realistic results with node compositing, use the denoise node to reduce noise and grain, the glare node to add realistic lens flares and glows to bright areas, the color balance node to adjust contrast, saturation, and tone, and the defocus node to simulate depth of field and blur effects.
