Online forums are a thing of the past. Back then, forums like CGTalk/CGSociety and Maxforums were some of the main ways to get your work out there. For example, CGSociety was the platform to market and broadcast your work; the elite of the elites gathered there. Maxforums was the platform to learn and get started with 3D graphics, particularly 3DS Max. Both are now shut down. Today, there is only one very active forum with a very helpful community: Blenderartists.org, which specializes in discussing Blender. Nowadays, people are scattered across other means, especially social media (e.g., Instagram). There are also specialized portfolio websites like ArtStation, which have risen in popularity.

Most people are unsure how to use social media effectively, often posting random content like food photos or highlights from occasional events. I'm not an expert either, but I realized years ago that social media is essential and that you need to learn how to use it to your advantage. Lately, I've been using social media mainly for marketing and have learned a lot from it. If you know how to utilize social media effectively, the possibilities are endless. Personal branding is a must nowadays, and maintaining a social media presence isn't easy. However, it's important to keep experimenting until you find a strategy that works for you. In this internet age, if you don't utilize the information superhighway, you'll get left behind.

Meetups, events, conferences, workshops, and seminars are the best ways to network. You won't make much of an impression by adding people randomly on social media. However, meeting them personally and face-to-face can work to your advantage. Always take the chance to attend such events and mingle. If you get invited as a speaker, educator, or instructor, even better!

If you can juggle maintaining them all (including social media accounts), then sure, why not? Have them all ready. But generally, social media accounts should be enough, as long as they have easy-to-remember handles and you're easy to reach through those accounts.
