I know I wouldn't say I like cooking today. However, I enjoy helping my family, so I cook. That is one of my purposes.

I believe journaling the life cycle of decisions is an important part of learning as a leader. It was a reflective exercise that was worth my investment. I also think it should be done primarily for you to learn. Secondarily for someone else to learn. Document key decisions, the inputs of those decisions (data and people), the context in which the decision made and the 3 month results as well as the 12 months results from the decisions. Forget about the bonus cycle, forget about year end results. Look at the decisions and future results as its own lifecycle. You may be surprised what it reveals.
