It helps you shift your perspective from features and functions to user needs and goals. To generate ideas, you can use the JTBD framework to identify the main job that your users want to accomplish, the pains and gains that they experience along the way, and the value proposition that your solution offers. You can then use techniques such as the Job Map, the Switch Interview, or the Value Proposition Canvas to ideate on how to create or improve your solution to better serve your users' jobs.

3 The Lean UX

The Lean UX framework is a way of applying the lean principles of build-measure-learn to the UX design process. It emphasizes rapid experimentation, iterative learning, and user feedback over documentation, specifications, and assumptions. To generate ideas, you can use the Lean UX framework to create hypotheses about your users, their problems, and your solutions, and then validate them with the smallest possible experiments, such as MVPs, prototypes, or usability tests. You can then use the data and insights from your experiments to pivot or persevere with your ideas, or generate new ones.

4 The Design Sprint

The Design Sprint is a five-day framework that helps you answer critical business questions through design, prototyping, and testing with real users. It is a structured and collaborative way of solving big challenges and validating ideas in a short time frame. To generate ideas, you can use the Design Sprint framework to map out the problem and the user journey, sketch multiple solutions, decide on the best one, prototype it, and test it with real users. You can then use the feedback and learnings from your test to refine or rethink your ideas, or move forward with confidence.
