Islamic architecture is one of the most important areas in which Muslims have excelled throughout the ages. The city of Samarkand is considered one of the Islamic cities characterized by its distinctive Islamic architecture and its special character. The appearance of Samarkand dates back to the fifth century BC, and its name was Ephrasiaab, which is the name of a king of the Sogdans, and it was known to the Greeks as "Karakanda".The article will address a brief study of the most important Islamic architecture of the city of Samarkand, and a historical introduction to the city of Samarkand.

Purpose of the research is to shed light on the history of the residential built-up of Samarkand in the 9th-13th centuries and clarify its role in the culture of Samarkand during the Developed Middle Ages.
Problems of study and planning of the city of Samarkand and other towns are relevant today. There at a high level of political, geographical, solved the traditional, architectural and environmental issue. Construction of Samarkand was a powerful symbol of the authority of the State of Amir Temur.
In this article, the author describes the description of the city of Samarkand in the sources, which is considered one of the main political, economic and cultural centers of the Emirate of Bukhara in the middle of the 18th and 19th centuries.
The main problem of the theory in the arena of islamic architecture is affected by some of its Western thoughts, and stereotyping the islamic architecture according to Western thoughts; this leads to the breakdown of the foundations in the islamic architecture. It is a myth that islamic architecture is subjected to the influence from foreign architectures. This paper will highlight the dialectical concept of islamic architecture or muslim buildings and the areas of recognition in islamic architecture. It will also widen the knowledge in the characteristics of each point in time according to the stages of islamic architecture from the prophetic age moving through the architecture outside the city of Medina, the Caliphs, the Umayyad, Abbasid, and architectural models by spatial and time periods, taking Iraq as the example to explain how the Islam influents on architecture and vice versa.

This paper discusses the analysis on the architecture of Sultan Abdul Samad (SAM) building in Kuala Lumpur. Specifically it will look at application of Islamic Architecture elements on the building. SAM was built during under British colonization. Designing the existing building took into consideration some of the features of buildings in several Islamic countries. The predominantly Moorish appearance of the building suitably reflects the cultural background of Malaysia. SAM is one of Malaysian Heritage list. It is important to revisit the principles behind it. What are the significant to local culture and how it being accepted towards Malay community.
