The research focuses on phraseological units in the English language, highlighting their importance for effective communication in a globalized context. It explores various classifications of phraseological units, as well as their characteristics and functions in language use. The study addresses unresolved issues within phraseology, emphasizing the relevance of understanding idiomatic expressions for language learners.

The main purpose of the study is to describe the nature of the phraseological units and the criteria for their clasification. Concerning the goal, the following tasks are set and fulfilled: the terms such as phraseologism, idiom are studied and described, the criteria for the allocation of phraseological units are reviewed as well as the different criteria for the selection of phraseologisms. All this allows us to form a theoretical basis for further analysis. The article highlights the features of phraseological units, identifies the criteria and their classification. The difference between the terms "idiom" and "phraseologism" is shown. The structure of phraseologisms is characterized. Criteria of stable expressions are their idiomaticity, stability (morphological, syntactic, lexico-semantic and stability of use) and word equivalence. Phraseologisms occupy an intermediate position between words and free word groups. It is noted that, on the one hand, they have features of words, and on the other handfeatures of free word groups. That's why they are sometimes difficult to distinguish. Additionally, it is stated these difficulties are exacerbated by the fact that the expressed properties of phraseologisms are expressed in various idioms in varying degrees. These difficulties are also manifested in various classifications of phraseological units, which were disassembled in this article. In our article were used such scientific methods as the method of vocabulary definitions, the descriptive method and the method of analysis in order to give the definitions of terms idiom and phraseology, to describe the criteria for classification of phraseological units and to analyze different thoughts on phraseology definition.
Phraseology being an integral part of any language or culture is the branch of linguistics dealing with stable word-combinations characterized by a specific transference of meaning. The study of English phraseology has grown on a faster pace in last decades. The current article aims at crystalizing the certain classification of phraseological units according to their functional and semantic structure. Phraseological units as well in terms are called idiomatic word groups with a fixed lexical composition and grammatical structure however, their meaning, is ubiquitous for to native speakers of the target language, and is generally figurative and cannot be derived from the meanings of the phraseological units. The phraseology is the branch of linguistics dealing with stable word-combinations characterized by a specific transference of meaning from the component parts of the word. Some community of scientists regard phraseological units as lexical combinations, the meaning of which is defined by the whole expression. There are a number of basic concepts and definitions of phraseological units. Phraseological unit is a non-motivated word-group that cannot be freely made up in speech but is reproduced as a ready made unit. Reproducibility is regular use of phraseological units in speech as single unchangeable collocations. Idiomaticity is the quality of phraseological unit, when the meaning of the whole is not deducible from the sum of the meanings of the parts. Stability of a phraseological unit implies that it exists as a ready- made linguistic unit which does not allow of any variability of its lexical components of grammatical structure.

The origin of phraseology is the subject of this article. The authors of this article are attempting to define phraseology and distinguish it from lexicology. They first introduced the term phraseology to academics, who attempted to study phraseology, a subfield of linguistics, in order for them to comprehend it. It is abundantly clear that this subfield of linguistics is relatively new, and very few researchers have been able to comprehend the world that phraseology creates. This article examines the fundamental types of phraseological units and how much idiomaticity is involved in learning a foreign language. Using numerous examples, the authors attempted to define the various types of phraseological units.

The term phraseology was originally described in this article as a universal language unit, an important component that contributes to the diversity of a language's lexicon. However, it is illustrated by the fact that it belongs only to a specific ethnos, peoples, and some English and Uzbek phraseological expressions that express their national and cultural traits are evaluated and analyzed in addition to the international phraseological units. Such strong ties are a treasure that helps to preserve a country's national identity and heritage.

The paper deals with the phraseological intensifiers considered as means of categorization of language intensity which is defined as the amount of illocutionary force that the utterance has, degree of strength of verbal expression of the speakers' intentionality. The paper reveals the pragmatic peculiarities of the phraseological intensifiers in conversation in which they serve as an instrument used by individuals in order to attain certain communicative goals, to convey the speaker pragmatic meaning. In argumentation, which is believed to be a macro speech act, having the illocutionary point to convince a reasonable critic of the acceptability of the standpoint and to resolve differences of opinion, the phraseological intensifier is used to increase the illocutionary force of the argument for and against the expressed standpoint.

Purpose of the study: The experiment is aimed at studying the potential of non-native speakers in applying various idiom transformations. The relevance of the current work is closely related to its purpose since the ability to identify the key component of an idiom or proverb makes their comprehension much easier and deeper. Methodology: The authors used experimental methods to reveal the role of transformations in identifying the key components of idioms. The experiment included several types of experiments: natural, transformational, open and mental. The subjects were 28 third-year students of Kazan Federal University whose major is English as a group of informants. The group of informants was given 10 English phraseological units which include a component part nominating some profession. Students were given two tasks and the time limit given for it was 2 – 2.5 hours. Main Findings: The paper describes an experiment conducted with the purpose of identifying key components/componen...

The task of defining what an idiomatic expression is remains still a rather difficult one. The border between literal and idiomatic expressions is still controversial. The difficulty in defining phraseological unitss is due to several factors. Current treatment of phraseology in specialised registers acknowledges the need for corpus-based studies of the prototypical lexico-grammatical patternings and discourse functions of lexical phrases across disciplines. Thus, the aim of this paper is to deal with some lexical, grammatical and functional features of phraseological units in order to understand their nature and to deal with idiomatization as a process. More precisely, this research study intends to explore prototypical lexico-grammatical features and patterns of phraseological units in English and Albanian. This analysis is based entirely on corpus evidence, since all collocational patterns discussed are extracted mainly from literary texts in both languages, specifically compiled...

This study defines and synthesizes the basic and profound nature of phraseological units (idioms) in English and Albanian. It uses descriptive research and analysis of idiom occurrence in both languages and interpretation of their similarities and differences. The findings of this study are given in a detailed and considerable perspective of both languages. It has outlined the typical sources and the diachronic approach of phraseological units, indicating typical characteristics of them. The present paper focuses on the diachronic and resource approach in a comparative way in both languages. The paper aimed at discussing the quality of different approaches of idiom definition and theories from the perspective of two different nation's cultural and geographical outlook. It gives a deep sight in the diachronic approach and analysis of idioms by presenting the main sources in English and Albanian language. It sought to examine the criteria of idiomaticity, stability and word equivalency, idiom motivation, grammatical and lexical valence of words in uniting them into word-groups. The study further relies on principles of classification of idioms. It reports certain features of idioms and it also presents idiom variation in language. This paper discusses the structure analysis of idioms, ways of forming phraseological units as a means of language creativity and nation spiritual reflection. The study further finds the meeting points in languages. It aims to explore the importance of achieving of semantic and structural identity in language.
