Public sexual harassment has emerged as a large and growing concern in urban Bangladesh, with deep and damaging implications for gender security, justice, and rights of public participation. In this paper we describe an integrated program of ethnographic and design work meant to understand and address such problems. For one year we conducted surveys, interviews, and focus groups around sexual harassment with women at three different universities in Dhaka. Based on this input, we developed "Protibadi", a web and mobile phone based application designed to report, map, and share women's stories around sexual harassment in public places. In August 2013 the system launched, user studies were conducted, and public responses were monitored to gauge reactions, strengths, and limits of the system. This paper describes the findings of our ethnographic and design-based work, and suggests lessons relevant to other HCI efforts to understand and design around difficult and culturally sensitive problems.

I commend the authors for their interest in this relevant and singular feature (westerlies!) within the low-level atmospheric circulation over the tropical far eastern Pacific. In particular, I find it very relevant their objective of tracking the Choco jet since the 19th Century using historical wind observations, by introducing and computing the so-called CHOCO-D index. That said, I think that the manuscript is far from being ready for publication in Earth Syst. Dynam., and that major and minor comments need to be dealt with in detail in the revised version.
in 1975, provides research-based policy solutions to sustainably reduce poverty and end hunger and malnutrition. IFPRI's strategic research aims to foster a climate-resilient and sustainable food supply; promote healthy diets and nutrition for all; build inclusive and efficient markets, trade systems, and food industries; transform agricultural and rural economies; and strengthen institutions and governance. Gender is integrated in all the Institute's work. Partnerships, communications, capacity strengthening, and data and knowledge management are essential components to translate IFPRI's research from action to impact. The Institute's regional and country programs play a critical role in responding to demand for food policy research and in delivering holistic support for country-led development. IFPRI collaborates with partners around the world.
Agricultural pesticide industry is blooming like never before their occurs overuse of chemical pesticide which will be let run off through nearly by fresh water resources without knowing the fact of effect of this harmful pesticide on aquatic organisms. Pesticides have an innate capacity to cause damage to physiological system of vertebrate causing them to weight loss and at certain ppm level it lead to mortality too. Considering above fact the present study deals with the effect of malathion for short duration (24 to 96 h) on muscle protein of Labeo rohita (Hamilton). The body muscle showed reduction in protein content during sub lethal treatment. In the different concentration of malathion with the increased concentration of malathion the protein, lipid and glycogen content decreased.
This paper examines the sustainability of the current account balances for three leading economies that play significant roles in global financial and geopolitical developments: China, the US, and Germany. Specifically, the alignment of the US, German, and Chinese current accounts with their intertemporal budget constraints is analyzed. The stationarity of the current account is considered a sufficient condition for defining sustainability. However, it is argued that the common assumption of a linear process for the current account under the alternative hypothesis of stationarity may not accurately reflect reality, as the current account may exhibit nonlinear behavior. Therefore, both linear and nonlinear unit root tests are employed to investigate current account sustainability. The objective is to determine whether the current account balances of China, Germany, and the US are sustainable independently or if achieving sustainability necessitates government intervention.
The study aimed to assess the acute toxicity and anti-diabetic activity of Halimeda gracilis (green marine alga). The Halimeda gracilis were collected from the coastal area of the Gulf of Mannar biosphere reserve and shade dried. Methanolic extract of Halimeda gracilis (MEHG) was prepared and it was screened for acute toxicity and anti-diabetic activity in the Zebrafish model. In the Acute toxicity study, the Zebrafishes were grouped into 6 groups and dosed with 6.25, 12.5, 25, 50, and 100mg/L of MEHG and observed at 0, 24, 48, 72, and 96 hours' intervals. For anti-diabetic activity analysis diabetes was induced using streptozotocin (STZ). The Zebrafish were divided into six groups-control group, positive control, diabetic Zebrafish with three doses of MEHG, and standard control (treated with metformin). Acute toxicity study showed no significant behavioral changes and LC 50 was determined as 100mg/L. In the diabetic study, test groups when compared to the control group showed: a significant reduction in both fasting and postprandial blood glucose levels and significant changes in the regeneration of pancreatic â-cells, and reduced vacuolization in the islets of Langerhans. Images of the regenerating caudal fins taken at 24, 48 and 72-hours post-amputation displayed significant limb regeneration in MEHG treated fish compared to the control group. These results prove that MEHG in STZ-induced diabetic Zebrafish possess potent anti-diabetic action by ameliorating blood glucose regulation, promoting pancreatic cell regeneration, minimizing long-term diabetic complications by preventing the emergence of metabolic memory but no behavioral changes.
In 2019, 77% of women and 82% of men with hypertension had uncontrolled hypertension worldwide. Uncontrolled hypertension can cause stroke, myocardial infarction, heart failure, renal failure, dementia, blindness, and death. However, most of the studies used the previous seventh joint national committee classification to classify hypertensive patients as either controlled or uncontrolled. This study aimed to assess the prevalence and associated factors of uncontrolled hypertension among adult hypertensive patients at public hospitals in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. From April 12 to May 12, 2024, three public hospitals in Addis Ababa employed a hospitalbased cross-sectional study design with 408 hypertensive patients. Systematic random sampling was used to select the study participants. We used a structured interview questionnaire and chart review and took physical measurements. Data were entered into Epidata and analyzed using the statistical package for social science version 25. A logistic regression model was used to identify factors associated with uncontrolled hypertension at a Pvalue < 0.05 with a 95% confidence interval. The prevalence of uncontrolled hypertension among hypertensive patients at public hospi-
The Crusades were a set of expeditions organised by Western Europe between 1096-1291 to the Eastern Islamic world with an expansionist instinct. The general Crusader sermon given by Pope Urban II at the Council of Clermont explains the reason for the expeditions. Urban, who initiated the campaigns as the spokesman of the church with the legitimacy of God, discussed in detail in his Clermont sermon why the Crusaders should make the pilgrimage to Jerusalem. Thus, Urban's words, which ignited a mass movement, fulfilled both the religious and secular needs of Western Europe in the conditions of that day. Urban's promise of God's support to those who would become Crusaders and his telling those who refrained from going on Crusade to fear Jesus Christ reinforced the Crusader identity as a good motivation. The discourse analysis method was used in the study and the parts of the Crusader sources related to Urban's sermon were analysed in a holistic manner. In this way, the meaning of the church and European politics, which Urban spoke through his mouth, has become more understandable.
