Hi, try deactivate “Fix Invalid HTML” option in Optimization settings, meta-description went back to normal for one user with the very similar issue.
PS Author found a way how to fix this, but not using the way you described due to other technical limitations of that solution, he had some other fix on his mind.

Forget it. Those are just recommendations and not rules from those speed checking tools and Swift is doing all that is needed to be done, so you can skip it. Just take care of the site’s real speed to visitors and if you are satisfied with it – seek no more.
