Warning! No .htaccess file was created upon installation

    Security warning: no .htaccess file was created upon a fresh install of WP 2.8.5. I have .htaccess files for my other 2.8.4 installs. What’s wrong, WordPress?

    UPDATE: .htaccess file finally appeared almost an hour after WP v2.8.5 was installed. Not sure why the .htaccess file wasn’t created *during* installation. Makes me nervous.

    ummm….htaccess isn’t created at all until you set your permalinks
    and it isn’t a security issue – the basic wordpress .htaccess only adds rewrite rules – user would have to add code for security manually
