We have a site that we have built using Avada theme. When we add the VideoPress videos, it creates the basic shortcode [videopress abcdefg] but I can’t figure out how to add the captions. We don’t have the blocks editor (worst thing to happen to wordpress since the Pharma hacks) so I don’t have the button for attaching the captions file. Is there any way to add the captions in the Media gallery or via the shortcode?

    Hi there @criticalcode,

I am afraid that with no Block Editor enabled this is not really possible: https://jetpack.com/support/jetpack-videopress/add-subtitles-to-your-videopress-videos/

It is not possible to associate a .vtt file for closed captions to a file directly in the Media Library. The VideoPress block must be added first. However, when you upload a track file to the video via the above steps, it gets associated with the media file itself. If you reuse the video file elsewhere, the track will be already in place

I am sorry to deliver bad news! Even though you’re not a fan of the Block editor, you may want to give it a go in a staging site to see if you can work on them, especially if the caption is must-need fetuare for your videos.

    Hope that helps!
