Hi,
Why does the plugin create an user role “person”? For what purpose and how to get rid of the user role?

The Person role is used for Person selections like editor, publisher, reviewer, etc. The initial members for the Person role are ‘administrator’, ‘editor’, ‘author’, ‘contributor’. You can use a plugin like this one https://wordpress.org/plugins/user-role-editor/ to manage roles etc.
