    Hello, after updating WooCommerce to version 8.5.1 I received an email with error information:

I found it strange because I don't use Jetpack

restored a previous backup to get back to normal...

    Looks like it want’s to load this class which does not exsists. The code can be found here – woocommerce-blocks/src/StoreApi/SessionHandler.php at trunk · woocommerce/woocommerce-blocks (github.com).

    Do you have any change, if you install this on a raw/clean server (staging), does this happen as well?

    P.S: Be carefull not do remove your current website, so make sure you are doing this somewhere else.

    This is odd. Let’s try by following these steps:

    1. Firstly, deactivate all your plugins and activate the Storefront theme (linked here)
    2. Afterward, download and install a fresh version of WooCommerce from here: https://wordpress.org/plugins/woocommerce/
    3. And finally, check if the issue persists, with having only WooCommerce active.

    Hey, @julianosb!

    Thanks for sharing the information!

    Are the theme and all plugins updated to their most recent version? If not, please update everything and check if the issue persists.

    If if does, were you able to do the conflict test my colleague suggested?

    To test, you’ll first want to change the theme on your site to Storefront, then check to see if the issue is still present. If that resolves the issue, you’ll want to get in touch with your theme’s developer and see if they have an update or fix for you.

    If changing the theme doesn’t help, you’ll want to deactivate all plugins except for WooCommerce and take a look. If that fixes the problem, re-enable the other plugins one by one (gradually), checking after each, to see where the issue is coming from.

    — Be sure you have a good backup in place of your full site and database. You can ask your host for backup functionality or you can consider using a service like Jetpack. If something goes wrong, you will be able to restore it.

    — Also, you can consider using a plugin like Health Check & Troubleshooting. This is a plugin developed by the WordPress community and it is helpful to disable plugins without affecting your current site visitors.

    — It is important to consider as well a staging functionality in case you would not like to touch your production site (you can ask your host if they offer this service), or you can use WP Staging for quickly spinning up a new test site.

    @julianosb, I would activate default theme first. If that does not change anything, I would temporaly de-activate Woocommerce plugin, check all the FTP permissions on the files (Woocommerce update failed, fatal error when I try to activate woocommerce | WordPress.org).

    Please make sure you go step by step like @carolm29 said, WooCommerce Self-Service Guide Documentation – WooCommerce and let us know the results.

    I had a similar problem yesterday when updating to Woocommerce 8.5.1. with Theme Storefront. An update storefront was released today and all fatal errors have been resolved.

    The error described in the email appears to be a technical issue related to updating the WooCommerce plugin to version 8.5.1.

    @julianosb, check here – Major, Fatal Error and Conflict w/ 8.5.1 and Stripe Gateway… | WordPress.org, it looks related.

    It makes me wonder. If you disable all the plugin and do the upgrade, does the same error appears?

    You said you are not using Jetpack, however, maybe something related to API is using jetpack, Fatal Error on Upgrade to 8.4.0 | WordPress.org –>from your error log

    I created a STAGING to test and checked the WooCommerce folders, I noticed that in the update, some folders are missing

    8.4.0

    In other words, version 8.5.1 does not have the woocommerce-blocks folder in /wp-content/plugins/woocommerce/packages and class-php-autoloader.php does not find the file in that folder.

    This was addressed with PR #42017, per the changelog of WooCommerce.

    The error described in the email appears to be a technical issue related to updating the WooCommerce plugin to version 8.5.1.

    In order to find the culprit, this has to be checked with temporarily activating a default theme (like TT3, or Storefront), not Astra, and have only the WooCommerce plugin active, and see if the issue persists, or otherwise.

    Could you test like so, and let us know how it went, please?

    @julianosbm, did you try @anastas10s suggestion about theme de-activiting before going to upgrade? So you start with a native theme + without plugins except WooCommerce.
