Suddenly error 503 only on admin-panel

    I’ve been using WP-Optimize for years. My 2 small WP-sites have been stable for years. I never had any problems with resources. My cPanel indicates that everything is still fine. My sites work, but I can’t access my admin-panels: 

    Error 503. Service Unavailable

The server is temporarily unavailable. Please check back shortly. If this problem persists, please contact our Technical Support department.

    If I disable WP-Optimize Version 3.2.22 trough my cPanel file manager by putting an asterisk * before the folder name, my admin-panel comes back to live again. The last update seems to have been on Nov 23, 2023.

    • Is there a fix for this?
    • If there’s no quick fix, how can I ‘officially’ delete WP-Optimize, trough my admin-panel’s plugin section? As soon as I remove the asterisk * which is before the folder name, my admin-panel becomes inaccessible with the 503 message.
    • If I can’t delete WP-Optimize trough my admin-panel, how can I remove WP-Optimize completely, including caches or other leftovers?

    Once I delete .htaccess file from upload folder it will work.

    Thanks, tes-india. Deleting the .htaccess file from /wp-content/uploads worked for me too. I did not ad the extra line to the wp-config.php file. I’ve never used this plugin for webp conversions.

    The strange things is, the .htaccess file was empty, 0 kb.

    @tes-india @dotch Could you please check your access log to see if there is anything unusual? If you happen to come across a 503 error, there’s a possibility it’s been logged there. I would appreciate it if you (or anyone else here) could share the access log via https://pastebin.com/

    It should be available in cPanel or the hosting dashboard, or you can ask your hosting provider about it.
