Hi, I encountered an issue regarding mysqli_sql_exception: Too many connections. I assume the it doubles my database size. It causes the site to be down and not accessible anymore.
Is there any fix on these?

While I don’t think cloning the database tables can cause such an “mysqli_sql_exception: Too many connections”, you can delete the staging site’s tables manually following this guide:

NOTE: of course backup your staging site first if you still need its data before deleting the tables.
However, I recommend contacting your hosting provider to identify the main reason for this issue.

It is worth knowing that if you run out of usable disc space on your server partition or drive, that this will also cause MySQL to return this error. If you’re sure it’s not the actual number of users connected then the next step is to check that you have free space on your MySQL server drive/partition.
The lack of free disk space causes MySQL to wait before an INSERT or UPDATE can complete, which in turn causes the number of pending user connections to increase until the limit is reached.

Deleting the extra database tables as mentioned above should do the trick.
