    Hello.
I am a relative newcomer to WordPress and css functions. Previously I used Netobject Fusion for 20 (yes, twenty) years before entering the newspaper (print media) industry.

I can follow any instructions, but my programming skills are very out of date.

I cannot get popup maker to publish a popup. Not can I seem ti get it to accept a name for a title.

I see this “popmake-2250|popmake-” under CSS classes. Every time I try all I get in the popup listings is:
    (no title) – draft
I have left the conditions ‘blank’, that is it says ‘select a condition’. I have also tried ‘all pages’ and/or all posts. I understand boolean logic.
I keep trying to select ‘Auto open’

I am at a complete loss – Help!

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

  • Hello @rabieskit:

There’s something we need to sort out before we address the difficulty you’re having with Popup Maker:

There is a JavaScript (JS) error on your site that I can’t immediately trace.

    Uncaught SyntaxError: Unexpected token <

We need to get that sorted first. I suspect that the source of the JS error is interfering with the performance of Popup Maker.

Here’s a ‘do-it-yourself’ recommendation from our documentation articles that might help you isolate the problem:

    http://docs.wppopupmaker.com/article/332-test-whether-a-plugin-or-theme-interferes-with-popup-maker

If you’re not successful with that, submit a support request to us at https://wppopupmaker.com/support. That will allow me to bring in the plugin developer to assess your issue if need be.

    Thanks yogaman5020,

I kind of suspected that might be the way to get a fix. Similar to repairing PCs, isn’t it? Keep replacing components until you find the dud one…

Well, it worked, thanks. I wasn’t sure if my attempts at ‘lobotomising’ the site were correct. I felt like Dave Bowman in 2001 A Space Odyssey, when he was shutting down HAL.

But it DID work. Pity I got all mixed up with the activate and deactivate plugins. It is now just past 10 pm here in Australia. So I’ll have an early night and start from scratch tomorrow, it promises to be rainy with thunderstorms, so a perfect day for debugging!

    Thanks again for the advice,
    Cheers,
    Tim

PS: I’ll reply when I get it fixed..

    Well, yogaman5020,

The popup is working, however I cannot get any themes other than the default to work. I can insert pictures and links, but must be missing something obvious…

    Any ideas?
    Tim

    Hello @rabieskit,

I saw Kubrick’s ‘2001: A Space Odyssey’ in the movie theater at the age of 9 in 1969. Scared the bejesus out of me back then! But yes, the value of plugins is that it makes code modular so it can be encapsulated, and effectively isolated from other working parts.

The plugin comes preloaded with 6 themes for styling. Each theme is set with a series of defaults. All defaults can be overridden with your own settings.

Not sure if the other 5 themes are simply missing from your plugin, or the code became compromised, and the 5 themes are inaccessible.

You can delete the plugin from your site /wp-content/plugins directory, and then reinstall it. All the data from the plugin will be preserved in your site database, so you need not worry about losing anything you recently created.

Or simply chalk up the disappearance/inaccessibility of the other 5 themes to chance, and make whatever customizations you want/require in your one remaining theme.

    Your call.
