• If I am hosting my blog in a separate directory – http://www.beyourowndetective.com/blog is it possible to get part of my latest post or posts to feed onto a specified location on my site’s homepage, sort of like a newsfeed site? Is there a special plugin for this?

If I do this, does it help a site rank better on Google?

  • You can use http://magpierss.sourceforge.net/ to fetch article from your blog. Just give it the url for your rss feed, and there ya are.

will it help google ranking? probably not so much, unless it’s from a different domain.

Maybe I can have it feed onto a homepage of one of my other related sites. I guess I’d need to install a special rss feed script on the other site. I have never tried this before. I’d only want to have it feed the title and maybe the first 100 or so words of the newest post, rather than the entire body of the post.

I figured having some dynamic news related content that changes frequently might help boost spidering and ranking.
    Thanks

Is the page on the same server as your WP blog? There are some interesting options in this article if you read through it: http://codex.wordpress.org/Creating_a_Static_Front_Page
