    How do I assign a writer to an article/post? I found the photographer box.

    I have made sure I have users in the “Reporter” user group.

    The only other place I have been able to assign the author is in the Quick Edit box when looking at all posts.

    Also- I only have a couple of photographers in the Photographers users group. Many more folks than that come up in the drop down menu for Photographer in the edit a post menu.

    Edit Flow currently offers limited assignment management functionality, but improving it is definitely on our radar.

    At the moment, you can assign an author to a post (or multiple with the Co-Authors Plus plugin). This will allow multiple people to edit a post and receive bylines if you incorporate the proper template tags.

    With Edit Flow, you can add different “user” editorial metadata, and be able to choose a user from a dropdown list for that metadata field. For instance, “Photographer” is added by default, but you could also add “Illustrator” or “Editor”. At the moment, these don’t serve any functional purpose other than keeping track of who is responsible for what.

    To help us better understand your needs:

    • How large is your editorial staff?
    • How is communication and assignment management handled currently?
    • What problems are you wanting to solve with Edit Flow?

    Hey! I’ve installed Edit Flow and set everything up… we’re actually a nonprofit, but I have a journalism intern and 5-6 volunteers from our membership who are willing to take assignments. I would like to be able to allow the volunteers to choose assignments from an “assignment desk” of sorts (I could list posts/assignments in a menu, and the volunteers could claim them).

    We’re not a news organization or blog, but a nonprofit trying to create more and better content related to our mission (become a community resource). This plugin is already helpful, but the addition of some assignment desk functionality (beyond simply assigning stories) would be VERY helpful. 🙂

    In fact… I don’t know how reasonable it is, but maybe you could even integrate some of the old “Assignment Desk” plugin (last updated in February 2011). The author has abandoned it, but I can only imagine more people are looking for that functionality.
