Missing comments box on posts

    When I Preview a post, I see the post and, under it, a comments box. When I publish, there is no comments box, just a small gray balloon to the right of the title that will expand to show comments when clicked. How do I get the comments box to show in the post?

    If you can, please share URL of a post where you see no comments box.

    Thanks for the quick reply. I’m new to the forum, and the warning for this area said no URLs. Mine is http://johnbairdrogers.com Interestingly, when I preview a post, I see the comments box. When I post, the box disappears. I’ve tried to reset my blog to show only one post at a time, hoping that would solve the problem, but that attempt through settings didn’t seem to take.

    Hi,

    1. First make sure you enable comments globally for future posts, Settings -> Discussions, make sure you enable Comments.
    2. Edit that post in the Dashboard, and in that edit screen you will see Screen Options in the top right corner, there, choose Discussion
    3. After that, you will see a box appear below the post editor make sure you choose “Allow comments”

    Thanks for that clear instruction. Still same problem. There is a gray balloon on the right margin of the main text area. Some of my viewers have figures out that when you punch it, it brings up all comments made so far and the comments box. But it’s not obvious.

    Not on the Home page, but I do see a comment below every post on a single page.
