    The meta og:url and canonical links are showing the first-viewed author archive URL in all author archives.
    If you use the Yoast Test Helper plugin and clear the Yoast SEO saved data for the site, the url shows correctly on the next visit to any author archive page, then it shows the URL for that same author in the meta tags of every author archive page henceforth.

    The og:image appears incorrect as well.

    Here is an example of the page: https://wsmag.net/author/sandra-andrews-strasko/
    Look at the source code and you’ll see:

    <!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v15.6.2 - https://yoast.com/wordpress/plugins/seo/ -->
    	<title>WSMAG.NET | Contributor: Sandra Andrews-Strasko | WestSound Magazine</title>
    	<!-- Admin only notice: this page does not show a meta description because it does not have one, either write it for this page specifically or go into the [SEO - Search Appearance] menu and set up a template. -->
    	<meta name="robots" content="index,follow" />
    	<link rel="canonical" href="https://wsmag.net/author/elena-j-williams/" />

    Hi,

    Just to clarify, if you reset the indexables using the Yoast Test Helper and re-run the SEO data optimization process under SEO > Tools, the og:URL and canonical URL would show the correct data for the first author archive you visit, but would then use that author’s data and populate it as the og:URL and canonical URL for the next author archive you visit? Are we understanding it correctly?

    We would expect that when you run the SEO data optimization process, it would be a one-time process and would then populate the necessary fields.

    We’re sorry that you are experiencing problems that might be caused by our plugin!

    Just to be sure, we would like to rule out any plugin or theme conflicts that may occur. The fastest way to do this is to deactivate all non-Yoast plugins and switch to a standard theme like Twenty Nineteen

    Test this on your development or staging site, if you have one. If not, we recommend using the Health Check & Troubleshooting plugin. This plugin allows you to run a conflict check without affecting normal visitors to your site.

    As we can imagine that you’re unfamiliar with checking for conflicts, we’d like to point you to a step-by-step guide that will walk you through the process: How to check for plugin conflicts.

    Yes, this is correct:

    I tried it in Twenty Twenty-One theme with all plugins disabled except Yoast SEO and Co-Authors Plus (which is required for the guest author archives pages) — still shows the wrong URLs in the meta tags, not matching the author names.

    It does it even if the Yoast data is not re-indexed (re-indexationed?) after resetting it.

    Hi,

    It does it even if the Yoast data is not re-indexed (re-indexationed?) after resetting it.

    So even if you reset the ‘indexables tables and migration’ in Yoast Test Helper, and then go to your WP admin dashboard > SEO (sidebar) > Tools > and run the ‘SEO data optimization’, the issue then still occurs where it will overwrite the og:URL and canonical field?

    If so, since you’ve tested it with just a default theme, and only Yoast SEO for WordPress and the Co-Authors Plus plugins enabled, it’s most likely a bug or plugin conflict. We recommend reporting creating a bug report for our team, as well as for the Co-Authors Plus plugin — https://yoast.com/help/how-to-check-for-plugin-conflicts/#results
