Are there plans to provide a link preview using the shortened link? Or perhaps integration with Visual Link Preview plugin? It’d be great to be able to paste the shortened link into content, and have an attractive link preview be generated in-situ using the destination URL, or to be able to autocomplete/search/filter shortened links in the VLP widget.

I am currently using Visual Link Preview (https://wordpress.org/plugins/visual-link-preview/) with your plugin, and have been using the shortened URLs as “external” links and it appears to be working as desired, in that it is retrieving the destination URL data to generate the link preview. I still need to copy-paste shortened links into the “external” link field of the VLP widget, so it’d be great to get integration where I can simply search for the shortened link from within the widget.

Also, unfortunately, it does not appear that your plugin can track the posts where the shortened links have been used, if they are VLPs (the “linked posts” column is always blank). I am also embedding the VLP within a custom Pod post type too (https://wordpress.org/plugins/pods/) via a text area field. So it may be a general lack of support with custom post types, or also something to do with VLPs.

Also, regarding VLPs and link updates, when the link is updated (destination URL for example), the linking is updated but the VLP does not update. The VLP in effect caches/retains the link preview data from the original creation. It’d be great if the VLP could be refreshed when the shortened link is updated too.

Since this seems like it could be VLP specific, maybe the better route would be to add a link preview feature to this plugin as it would simplify the process (updating shortened links and link previews) as well as allow this plugin to track links wherever they are used on the site. I assume it would also make it possible/easier to bulk update any instance of the link from the plugin dashboard too!

    Thanks!

I just wanted to follow-up on this after some further testing.

I am using VLPs both on pages and within a Pod custom post type. It appears URL Shortify can track links in VLPs on pages, but not when a VLP is within a custom post type (via text area).

Also, it appears that the links dashboard shows each instance of a link (linked post_ as a separate row, is there a way to aggregate all instances of a given link within the parent link row or its settings page?

I’d much rather have the table show all of the links I created, but then be able to manage and view where that link has been used within its settings page or table row. Essentially, being able to drill down. I feel like with the current paradigm that the table will become very crowded and unmanageable very quickly.

    Thanks again!
