I know this is my fault… I have an old site on which is an old blog. Hosted on Easyspace, they upgraded their PHP and I ignored it as the site is only really still there because I kept the email addresses. However I suddenly thought getting a book print of the blog would be a great memory… My blog is no longer visible and I can’t even logon to it. Easyspace will upgrade and update it for a a huge fee… I do have a downloaded (via ftp) copy from about 6 years ago (last updated then – so was my knowledge of things techie!) is there any way I can display it, please? I can’t even log on to it on my site anymore. TIA

If your download included the database, you could probably build your site locally using http://localwp.com. However, without the database, your site won’t have any content. You may be able to find some of that using the wayback machine at https://archive.org

Many thanks… I thought I had everything an therefore the database but it seems I don’t – just some random pictures here and there! It’s possible I have a ‘proper’ back up somewhere, but that will be on an old hard drive… a job for winter, perhaps…. Meanwhile I am downloading page by page from web archive – thanks again. (Unless there’s a way to download the whole thing from there..?!!) Time to sit in a darkened room and cancel the hosting I think…

Good luck. It’s no fun to rebuild a site via copy/paste. 🙁

Wish I could blame someone other than myself! 😉 Thank you
