• This plugin is great for SEO optimization as it gives feedback on the current page/post you are editing. However, I am not completly satisfied as some functions are not working properly with the WpBakery page builder.

    Here are considerations:

    • It tells me there are no internal or external links, even though there are plenty of internal and external links applied to various page builder blocks. Banners, information boxes etc. The plugin doesn’t seem to be able to grasp these.
    • When I use the highlighting tool (eye icon), the plugin can’t highlight some of the readability issues it identifies. Even if I change to classic text-view.

I can ofc, disregard these warnings, but I would love to see full green SEO and Readability in the plugin.

There is also a lack of a major features in my opinion:

    • Automatic text truncation of SEO-title and Meta description. I understand that I have the ability to write more than what is recommended. But I would love to have a setting where I can automatically truncate these fields to stay within the recommended word/character count. I can ofc. achieve this through custom hooks and filters, but why not add it to the plugin?

I hope this will improve in the future.

    Hi @rancuta!

Thanks for sharing your review and feedback on the Yoast SEO plugin. It is appreciated.

We understand that you have some concerns with the content analysis not being accurate when using the WPBakery Page Builder. We do know that the Yoast SEO content analysis should work well with the default WordPress block and classic editor, as well as supported third-party page builders such as Elementor. For other page builders and custom theme boxes, some visual composer developers have modified their code to add compatibility with our plugins while others have not. You can learn more about it here – https://yoast.com/help/is-the-plugin-compatible-with-xyz-visual-page-builder/

As for the automatic text truncation for the SEO title and meta description, we don’t want to limit the total amount of characters that you would use in your title and meta description. Instead, in the Google Preview, there is a bar right beneath the SEO title and meta description that is green if it is the optimal text width, and starts to go orange and red if it exceeds the character limit – https://yoast.com/page-titles-seo/#width-vs-length. It should still serve as a guide and not a hard limit.
