• I have a multisite network of ~800 websites that use the subdirectory domains. (E.g. if my main site is foo.com, all my other sites are foo.com/site1, foot.com/site2, etc.)

Is there a plugin (or a way to modify a plugin) that will allow me to generate a sitemap on the main site that includes sitemap entries for each of my subdirectory sites. In other words, can I generate a sitemap on foo.com that will include foo.com/site1 and foo.com/site2 automatically, so that I can register one sitemap with Google instead of having to register an individual sitemap for every one of my ~800 network sites.

    Many thanks!

  • It looks like you’re already using Yoast SEO, so you may want to ask about this in their support forum. Even if the plugin does not support generating a network-wide sitemap like you’re looking for, you could manually create a sitemap index that points to the individual sites. This may or may not be sustainable depending on how often you add and remove sites from your network.

Another option is Sitemap by BestWebSoft – WordPress XML Site Map Page Generator Plugin. It automatically creates individual sitemaps and a sitemap index for the entire network but lacks some of Yoast’s other features. If you were to use both plugins, you’d want to disable the sitemap feature in Yoast first.

    Hope this helps!
